Maybe I am dating myself, but I remember the days when we would draft all of our meeting ideas on an easel, with a giant pad of white paper. Inevitably one person would be assigned to tear off the paper and store these massive sheets at their desk, only to be forgotten and then thrown out never to be looked at again. Sometimes the good old days were not always the good old days.
As part of its Collaboration Portfolio, Cisco has just released its latest incarnation of whiteboard technology the Cisco Webex Board (Previously Spark Board). The Cisco Webex Board combines an interactive 4K digital whiteboard and video conferencing solution all in one. It enables attendees to collaborate during meetings regardless of location efficiently, and then to automatically save content to a Webex Teams Space that can be accessed on any device.
What is new with the Cisco Webex Board
One Button to Push (OBTP)
OBTP can be set up so that the green “Join” button appears on the Webex Board right before the meeting begins, just as it does in the Cisco Webex Teams app.
When you join a meeting with OBTP, there are limitations to whiteboarding in some scenarios.
- Whiteboarding is not available if the meeting is an @webex or a third-party meeting.
- For @spark meetings, a Webex Teams app needs to be connected to the board for you to be able to whiteboard.
Enhanced Toolbar
- Back button: A new back button has been added so that the user can delete the last step.
- Additional colors available for stylus: Orange, red, purple, blue, green
Set-Up an Automatic Connection to a Proxy Server
You can configure a Cisco Webex Board running Webex Board OS to use a proxy server for HTTP(s) traffic. Connecting your Cisco Webex Board to a proxy server can help you apply an extra measure of security or apply company policies such as a restriction on internet usage.
Share and Annotate on 4K Presentations
You can now share locally and annotate on 4K presentations, on your Webex Board when sharing through HDMI (resolution 3840x2160p30).
Languages Available
The following new languages are now supported with the Cisco Webex Board:
- Czech
- Danish
- Dutch
- Finnish
- French (Canada)
- Italian
- Japanese
- Norwegian
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Spanish (Latin America)
