Teams Phone licensing
Your tenant needs at least one Teams Phone license. The agent's resource account also needs a Teams Phone Resource Account license, which Microsoft provides at no cost.
Copilot Credits and a spending policy
Teams Phone Agent usage is billed in Copilot Credits. Set up credits and a spending policy before the agent starts taking calls.
A number callers can reach
For callers outside Teams, the agent's resource account needs a phone number: a Microsoft service number, an Operator Connect number or a Direct Routing number.
Transfers to outside numbers
If the agent sends callers to an external phone number, the resource account needs a funded pay-as-you-go license or Communications Credits.
Custom agents and integrations
Looking up orders or records in your own systems may need a voice agent built in Microsoft Copilot Studio. That comes with its own licensing and usage costs.
Costs outside this estimate
Implementation, customization, licensing, telephony and other charges are not included. Plan time to design, test and tune your call flows.
