Challenge

Steelcase's voice specialist left in early 2023, and the role was never filled. Engineers kept three global Cisco CUCM clusters running, but there was no architect. As their IT manager put it, the team was running a skeleton crew and starting to feel the fatigue.

Their Cisco agreement ran to March 2026.

Approach

The goal was never a phone system upgrade. It was removing a dependency the company had already decided not to staff.

Thank you for ZIRO's existence, the one gift that Microsoft has given us in a very long time.
— George Altar, IT Manager, Global Network, Steelcase

Solution

We moved 2,037 users across 59 sites to Microsoft Teams Phone in seven cutovers, including 40 auto attendants and 51 call queues. The project closed in November 2025 and went live on December 1.
